How to tailor your resume for startup jobs

Make your resume relevant to a small team without exaggerating skills or inventing results.

Lead with proof of work

Move the most relevant shipped project or measurable outcome near the top. Explain what problem you owned, what you actually did and how you know it worked. Use a number only if you can substantiate it.

Use the employer's language honestly

If the posting asks for a skill you have used, show the project where you used it. If you have not used it, don't add it as a keyword. A short, relevant resume beats a long list of unsupported tools.

Close the evidence gap

Review each requirement, then identify what your resume already proves and what you could demonstrate in a portfolio or learn next. Jobloom's Bloom Score can help Pro members compare their uploaded resume with an individual listing, but the score does not predict an employer's decision.
